Colorless transparent with low volatilization and high boiling point. Soluble in alcohol, ether and sodium hydroxide solution, slightly soluble in water. Stable in acid or base and has a burning taste. As an industrial solvent, it can be used in the manufacture of paints, coatings, cleaning agents, adhesives and wipes. In the dye and pigment industry, it can be used as an intermediate for dyes and a dispersant for pigments.
